Key of Light (Key Trilogy Book 1) - Nora Roberts
Description~
The life of gallery manager Malory Price is stalled when she is invited to a reception at a mansion near her small Pennsylvania town. Upon her arrival, she discovers that she is one of only three guests-all of whom are feisty young women with life challenges just like her own. Their mysterious hosts explain that centuries earlier, they allowed the souls of the three demigoddesses under their care to be stolen by a sorcerer. Legend says the demigoddesses cannot be freed until three mortal women find the keys to the glass box in which they are housed. Should they agree, Malory, Dana Steele and Zoe McCourt will each receive $25,000 to search for the keys, plus a million dollars if they succeed. They nervously accept, and Malory is the first to tackle her task, with the help of Dana's charming but commitment-phobic brother Flynn, they might just find more than the first key...they could possibly find love.
Ok so Ive been on a Nora Roberts kick for a while now and Im not sure if its b/c Ive had my belly full at the moment or that I just didn’t dig this book as much as the Sign of Seven books…hmmm…idk?!?! Either way this book was neither here nor there with me.
You open up the story meeting three girls who have been invited to this mysterious house. They are told they were chosen to help find three keys to release the souls of some demigoddesses from centuries ago. Each girl will have their own key to find and their choice of a person to help. Luck has it our first girl, Malory Price, meets the man of her dreams AND her helper in one shot!
This story was all about friendship and love conquering all! You learn a lot of the back story which is loaded with Gods and folklore, so that part was interesting but it just fell short to me with keeping my attention. I felt the book very predictable which led to it being easy to put down. That’s a BIG deciding factor on my books btw…could I put it down…and I’d have to say ya I could in this situation. The writing was wonderful and the characters were interesting enough…but sometimes enough isn’t ENOUGH! lol
Will I pick up the second book in this series…yes I will b/c I hate not finishing story lines BUT I really have to hope that the pace gets moving! ;o) Also I have to say that I was warned not to read the NR series one after the other b/c they are so similar…so that person (Nath ;o) was 100% right! Hopefully next time I pick up this series it will be a bit more fresh!
I give this book a total of...
