Cry Wolf (Alpha and Omega, Book 1) - Patricia Briggs

Description~
Anna never knew werewolves existed until the night she survived a violent attack…and became one herself. After three years at the bottom of the pack, she’d learned to keep her head down and never, ever trust dominant males. But Anna is that rarest kind of werewolf: an Omega. And one of the most powerful werewolves in the country will recognize her value as a pack member—and as his mate.

Ok this goes without saying that I love Patricia Briggs! I LOVE Mercy Thompson and now I can add that I love the Alpha and Omega series. It all started when I read the short story in On the Prowl. I got hooked to Charles and Annas new found relationship and lets just say that it grows even deeper in Cry Wolf.

Anna is new to the area and is having a time fitting to her new mate Charles. They met in her home town of Chicago under certain circumstances and soon found out that their wolves were mated at first site. But as she makes it to her new home she finds that things have only gotten worse and the action is only rising!

There is talk of a rouge were out in the woods attacking and Charles is sent by his father Bran ( the Marrok) to settle to problem. Anna wont leave her newly found mate and follows. See Anna is an Omega wolf (she can calm even the most fearsome of souls with merely her presence) and thinks she may be a big help. So she follows Charles on his quest to bring in the rouge.

Little did they know that the rouge is the least of their problems. Their biggest problem is a witch thats stolen a long-lived wolfs mating bond. Asil is pack and lost his mate centuries ago. The witch that has stolen it has gained power of the pack and plans to draw out Asil and finish the job of taking his life. Her guardian wolf is Asil mate...or at least a shell of his mate. After Asil finds out his plan is to free her soul once and for all.

This book was great! I honestly dont have but like one complaints! Otherwise it runs right along with how I feel about Mercy Thompson.

One thing I loved about this book was that Anna and Charles relationship really gets to grow! You get into both of their minds to listen to how they are feelings, their insecurities etc about the other person! Anna is really trying in this relationship. Its a adjustment for her b/c she came from a pack that did nothing but abuse and raper her! Charles is extremely protective of her and even more thoughtful! :o)

I loved how you got into Asils past. Asil is a VERY old wolf....abotu as old or even older than Bran! You learn of his relationship with his mate and how she met her end. They adopted the witch when she was younger and she ended up turning on them and killing her when Asil was away. Many years later Asil is having horrible dreams that repeats her death and he is in fear that the witch has come back to finish the job...and SHE HAS!

Anna has really ended up being a lot stronger than I thought she would be. I have to admit I was very skeptical about her character. I LOVE a strong willed woman who can stand on her own and in the beginning Anna didnt quite have those traits. But as her relationship grew with Charles and the pack so did her courage! There were times when Charles would get attacked and Anna would jump right in to defend her mate! LOVED IT!

One thing I didnt like was...
When they (Bran, Asil, the rouge, Charles and Anna) were all getting ready to have the final showdown and fight I felt it was drug out. Bran was pretending to be Tag (another were) Anna, Charles and the rouge were hiding, the witch was bitching everyone out...etc. I just felt like saying get on with the show danggit! It couldve easily been 20pgs less than what it was! lol But either way once the fight did get going it was a good one! I even loves how after the witch was defeated that Bran wasnt in his right mind and Anna ad to calm him down.

I really dont have a snib bit for you...I liked this story DONT get me wrong its just not one thing happened to jump out at me. I loved how after they gad sex they werent totally bonded (and they shouldve been). And later on once they connected more it finally sunk in but really there wasnt any poetic moment for me.

Overall I felt this was a pretty strong start to the series and I cant wait to read Hunting Ground! Anna and Charles are great together and I cant wait to continue their story!

I give this book a total of...

I loved On the Prowl but didn't love Cry Wolf so much. But I can't remember specifically why..lol.

Their relationship is very complex...I like that. And I heart Bran! :)

SUCH a good book. I really loved this one as well. I'm not normally an urban fantasy type reader but this series has just enough romance to make me love it. :) And of course how can I not love the wonderfulness of Briggs' writing? I can't. :)
