Thorn Queen (Dark Swan, Book 2) - Richelle Mead

Blurb~
Eugenie Markham is a shaman for hire, paid to bind and banish creatures from the Otherworld. But after her last battle, she s also become queen of the Thorn Land. It s hardly an envious life, not with her kingdom in tatters, her love life in chaos, and Eugenie eager to avoid the prophecy about her firstborn destroying mankind. And now young girls are disappearing from the Otherworld, and no one--except Eugenie--seems willing to find out why.
Eugenie has spilled plenty of fey blood in her time, but this enemy is shrewd, subtle, and nursing a very personal grudge. And the men in her life aren t making things any easier. Her boyfriend Kiyo is preoccupied with his pregnant ex, and sexy fey king Dorian always poses a dangerous distraction. With or without their help, Eugenie must venture deep into the Otherworld and trust in an unpredictable power she can barely control. Reluctant queen or not, Eugenie has sworn to do her duty--even if it means facing the darkest--and deadliest--side of her nature...

Ok...Richelle Mead...LOVE THIS WOMAN!

In the latest Dark Swan book Eugiene is getting used to being the queen of her own land. Shes totally in between two worlds...not knowing where she fits is a big issue in this book. I love how Eugiene is totally alone yet not alone in her world. It makes for an interestingly deep read once you get past all the hubbub on the exterior! She needs to take care of her land and people yet everyone (but the tempting King Dorian that she once played in the sheets with) wants her to stay away!

Another this is her lover Kiyo is actually in the midst of having a child with his ex. How Eugiene deals with this at first is remarkable b/c I just dont know what I would do. And actually that gave me a problem in the book. I mean shes GREATLY understanding...even when he would stand her up. And that just bothers me...but in the same sense she knows and is trying and I feel that maybe RM was trying to show us a deeper hurt...and more of a numbness of the situation. REMEMBER she cant have his (or anyone else's kids) b/c she is supposed to have the child that will be like the downfall or something...bad...something bad ya thats it! lol

The first part of the book was a bit slow for me...I enjoy her growing into being a part of her world but the day to day life that was in the first half was a bit boring. Maybe thats why it took me so long to read it.

BUT this brings me to an interesting part...see girls are getting kidnapped from her world and shes made it a promise to find them and bring the kidnapper down! WELL she ends up getting taken as well...*SPOILER* and drugged and raped on a daily basis!!! Will she get away??? Who will get her out...herself...Dorian whos still after her heart...or her preoccupied lover Kiyo?

Above all this was a great little book...I think the faults and plus's kinda were evened out...was there too many faults to make me not wanna continue...HECK NO!!!! But it couldve been more polished!

PS- For the Dorian fans...*sigh you wont be disappointed!

Here is a Snippet of just why I love RM...shes so funny!

Snippet~
I’d never really been like other kids. I’d had some friends, but compared to theirs, my world had been terribly stark and terribly deadly. Their dramas and concerns had seemed so petty next to mine, and I could never fully relate. As an adult now, I still couldn’t really connect to kids because I had no shared experiences to draw on.

Which made my job today that much more difficult.

“Go ahead, Polly,” crooned the girl’s mother, smiling with over-plump lips. Too much collagen, I suspected. “Tell her about the ghost.”

Polly Hall was 13 but wore enough make-up to rival a 40-year old whore. She sat slouched against the back of a couch in her family’s perfectly decorated house, chewing gum loudly, looking everywhere but at us. The more I studied her, the more I decided she probably did have problems. I suspected they had less to do with supernatural influences and more with having a mother who had named her Polly and let her wear thongs. It was an unfortunate side effect of Polly’s low-cut jeans that I could see the aforementioned thong.

...

Monsters and gentry I tended to send back to the Otherworld, the limbo they lived in. A ghost like this needed to move on to the land of death. She disappeared.

Mrs. Hall and Polly stared at me. Suddenly, in her first show of emotion, the girl leapt up and glared at me.

“You just killed my best friend!”

I opened my mouth to respond and decided nothing I had to say would be adequate.

“Good heavens, what are you talking about?” exclaimed her mother.

Polly’s face twisted with anger, her eyes bright with tears. “Trixie. She was my best friend. We told each other everything.”

“Trixie?” Mrs. Hall and I asked in unison.

“I can’t believe you did that. She was so cool.” Polly’s voice turned a little wistful. “I just wish we could have gone shopping together, but she couldn’t leave the house. So I just had to bring her Vogue and Glamour.”

I turned to Mrs. Hall. “My original advice still stands. Therapy. Lots of it.”

Sizzle - Jennifer Crusie

Blurb~
Emily is an advertising executive who is marketing the perfume Sizzle. Richard is the number cruncher who has to keep Emily within her budget. When Emily and Richard get together they are so hot they sizzle. The problem is, Richard has selective hearing. When Emily decides to fight for her love by curing his deafness things really reach boiling point...

Ok guys...being JC's new book came out this month I had to go back to where it all began! WITH SIZZLE! lol This was Jennys first novella to write and while she doesn't totally shun this book she doesn't quite claim it either. Dont believe me...here are her words on the book! lol

DO NOT ASK FOR A SIZZLE REPRINT. That damn book is following me around the way early porn films follow actresses.

While I dont feel as strongly apposed to this story as Ms. Crusie I have to say there were so flaws.

The story is stated pretty plain and simple...Emily is a marketing agent for some perfume called Sizzle. Emily has a tendency to go over budget therefore her boss assigned her a partner (in comes sexy hotshot Richard) to aid in her problem areas. And boy does she have some areas that need attention ;o) lol

From the get go Emily isnt to excited to have a partner, especially one that acts as a parent to her and never listens. BUT the bigger issue is Emily is wildly attracted to Richard. And as you start to see Richard cant seem to keep his mind on work. The two start to get things rolling but Emily notices a problem...Richard never seems to listen. At work OR in bed. He makes all of Emilys decisions and actually seems to not even notice her talking at times.

So basically this short story is about Emily getting Richard to listen up so they can be equals in their relationship...that quickly turns to an engagement.

Highlights~
Like all of JC's books her heroine is strong willed, sexy and smart. You always seem to laugh at the wittiness of JC's characters and just b/c this is her first go doesnt mean your let down! The story was short - yes but you get the idea of the problem and everything pretty much gets summed up by the end.

Low Points~
On the other hand b/c this is such a short story you felt quite rushed at times. You know the H/H falling in love SO quickly and then turning engaged! Now I understand in the world of novellas this is totally common but I wouldve rather them just stayed in their relationship. Maybe it wouldve felt a bit more believable. Another issue was you never got into the heros head. You were in Emilys POV the entire time so to me that kept me a bit disconnected from Richards character. My last issue was (and this is nit picky) that the plot was a bit of a stretch! I mean the issue was a man that didnt pay attention to his woman. Not the normal guy "not paying attention" I mean to him Emily was talking and looking at him and he was dead to the world...and the way she supposedly "fixed" the problem...well I didnt see how that worked but I guess in their world it did! lol But afterall it is fiction...what more could I ask for right?!?! ;o)

Now dont get me wrong...just b/c my low points were longer than my highs doesnt mean this wasnt a good book. It was very Jenny Crusie-ish lol Her typical stuff I guess just not NEARLY as developed as normal. If you get a chance to get your grubby little hands on this one keep it b/c its a hard one to find! :o)

Beyond the Highland Mist (Highlander, Book 1) -Karen Marie Moning and Phil Gigante (Audio CD)

Blurb~
AN ALLURING LAIRD
He was known throughout the kingdom as Hawk, legendary predator of the battlefield and the boudoir. No woman could refuse his touch, but no woman ever stirred his heart—until a vengeful fairy tumbled Adrienne de Simone out of modern-day Seattle and into medieval Scotland. Captive in a century not her own, entirely too bold, too outspoken, she was an irresistibly challenge to the sixteenth-century rogue. Coerced into a marriage with Hawk, Adrienne vowed to keep him at arm's length—but his sweet seduction played havoc with her resolve.

A PRISONER IN TIME
She had a perfect "no" on her perfect lips for the notorious laird, but Hawk swore she would whisper his name with desire, begging for the passion he longed to ignite in her. Not even the barriers or time and space could keep him from winning her love. Despite her uncertainty about flowing the promptings of her own passionate heart, Adrienne's reservations were no match for Hawk's determination to keep her by his side...

Alright...this was an audio book so MAYBE thats why I my score lacked for this one...ok I'm gonna list this one out b/c in my mind that's the only way I can reason the book.

***SPOILERS***

~Likes~
- Ive only read ONE time travel book (Time Travelers Wife...my FAV book) and I think it would be hard for it not to be corny...this book WAS NOT corny at all! It was exciting, sexy and intriguing.
- I LOVE two men fighting over one woman! In this book there is a fae (Adam) and Hawk (the laird) fighting over Adrienne's heart. Hawk wants to seduce his wife and win her heart even though shes lusts for Adam (well actually both men). Makes for hot fights! ;o)
- I love that the book has magic in it...obviously their were fae in the book so we get a mystical feel to everything. That's how Adri ended up in the 1500's! ...and how she goes back :'( You get to know the when and why Adri goes from the 1990's to the 1500's and it all ties into the fae! So that was something different...its was like a contemporary (Adrienne) meets historical (Hawk) meets fantasy (Adam) lol
~Dislike~
- Ok I must say...I was driving to Florida listening to this and if I had to hear "But who are you REALLY" or "I hate beautiful men" one more time I was going to end my life by running into a tree!!! UGH! This was pretty annoying! AND repetitive!!!
- As much as I loved Hawk, Adri was a bit ANNOYING! Her reasoning for SO MANY THINGS was ridiculous! She was "burnt" by her ex lover so she hated beautiful men, she was yes and no about the Hawk situation, she would say ADAMS NAME while getting kinky with Hawk...idk it was a bit frustrating. And not the frustrating of your normal book...liek you want the chick to get over her crap to get with the hero...it was just plain FRUSTRATING!
- The readers voice...omg...at one point he meowed like a cat and I about busted a gut. His girl voice SUCKED and was a tad annoying BUT I will say his guy voice was pretty yummy! lol Overall I just think I wouldve been better off reading it myself.

So overall I think it was a decent book. My downfall was that I found myself looking at the characters through the readers eyes and not my own. You know you picture your characters a certain way and give them their own "voice" and that was sorta forced on me...it being read to me and all. BUT I will say I enjoyed the story and would continue to look into the rest of the books! :o) Also I loved that I got a book "read" while traveling! Audio books are a pretty cool thing!

Dear John - Nicholas Sparks

Description~
An angry rebel, John dropped out of school and enlisted in the Army, not knowing what else to do with his life--until he meets the girl of his dreams, Savannah. Their mutual attraction quickly grows into the kind of love that leaves Savannah waiting for John to finish his tour of duty, and John wanting to settle down with the woman who captured his heart. But 9/11 changes everything. John feels it is his duty to re-enlist. And sadly, the long separation finds Savannah falling in love with someone else. "Dear John," the letter read...and with those two words, a heart was broken and two lives were changed forever. Returning home, John must come to grips with the fact that Savannah, now married, is still his true love--and face the hardest decision of his life.

*SPOILERS*

I started reading this book in preparation of a girls night out...Mexican, Margaritas & Movies!!! BUT needless to say this book has turned out to be an experience that I cant wait to get over with! :o/ Yes yes...I know its Nicholas Sparks and he likes to rip your beating heart out of your chest but I figured at least we'd get a HEA...NOT! Lets start off with a quote from the book that explains a bit.

"Our story has three parts: a beginning, a middle, and an end. And although this is the way all stories unfold, I still can't believe that ours didn't go on forever."

So you know right off the bat they don’t end up together…I was sorta ticked but had hoped that both would get their HEA. Ok so we open the story up meeting John. He was a troubled kid with no mother. His father was very closed off and collected coins so much that it effected how they ate and lived! :o( John ends up going in the military and while on leave meets Savannah at the beach! Instantly they fall pretty hard for eachother and spend non-stop time together.

"Even now, I'm still not sure how it happened. One instant we were talking, and in the next she leaned toward me. For a second, I wondered whether kissing her would break the spell we both were under, but it was too late to stop. And when her lips met mine, I knew that I could live to be a hundred and visit every country in the world, but nothing would ever compare to that single moment when I first kissed the girl of my dreams and knew that my love would last forever. "

We also get to meet Savannahs childhood friend Tim that you knew just adored her! RIGHT THERE was when I didn’t want to finish the book. I KNEW Tim and Savannah would end up together! UGH! Either way they you really liked Tim and that’s what made everything so wishy washy for me :o/ Ok so John ends up having to go back and they decide they will stay together b/c he’s getting out in 1 year! So the letters start…

"I love you, not just for now, but for always, and I dream of the day that you’ll take me in your arms again."

He visits a few times but its hard and they start to fight which was really sad but you could tell it somewhat made them stronger. BUT it also showed they were beginning to really be strained by him being away. Both were counting down the days till he got to come home. Then 9/11 happens! :*( Everyone started to re-up their stays in the military and the decision that John made changed his path and Savannahs. He decided to re-up as well. Savannah tried to be understanding but it was hard. She ended up writing him a ‘Dear John’ letter letting him know she had fallen in love with someone else!

John was more of heartbroken than anything. Savannah was all he had ever known. His focus switched however very quickly to the war and his now dying father. His father’s situation was SO heartbreaking. Turns out his father had a disability (I think they said he had Asperger's syndrome) so John found a way for they to bond which was great but when his father started having multiple heart attacks he seen that it was staring to come to an end. John had pretty much hit rock bottom in his life and didn’t know where to turn after his father passed.

So John turns to find Savannah. Little did he know hed find her MARRIED TO TIM!!! Then an even bigger shocker was that Tim was in the hospital with Melanoma! He was dying!!! OMG! LIKE SERIOUSLY?!?!? John talks with Tim and Tim decides that if he leaves that John should take care of Savannah b/c he knows that she still loves him. (Savannah had settled for Tim) Tim needed special treatment that cost $$$ so what does John do…sales his father coin collection and discreetly pays for Tims treatment…slipping out of Savannahs life forever. And he ends up alone! WTH?!?!

"It's possible to go on, no matter how impossible it seems, and that in time, the grief . . . lessens. It may not go away completely, but after a while it's not so overwhelming."

And we end the book with him secretly spying on Savannah during their full moon they always watched. It broke my heart! She still loved him yet he knew it was wrong and that their time had passed. Couldn’t NS given us SOME hope that John would eventually have a happy ending?

"And then I feel as if I'm witnessing a miracle, as ever so slowly she raises her face towards the moon. I watch her drink in the sight, sensing the flood of memories she's unleashed and wanting nothing more than to let her know I'm here. But instead I stay where I am and stare up at the moon as well. And for the briefest instant, it almost feels like we're together again."

*sigh…I wanted to rip the book in half!

My BIGGEST issue with this book was the fact that while Tim was in the hospital John came over for like 2 straight nights and ate dinner etc. Well in that time they almost kissed! AND She had to change at one point and he seen her naked back from another room…she knew he did and she turns around to show him…almost an invitation. I understand NS was trying to show us she was scared and confused but omg that was just WRONG!

I WAS however happy that in the end Savannah asked John could she write to him and see him and he shut her down! Not in a mean way and I know that was the hardest thing he had to do but it was the RIGHT thing. He gave Savannah to Tim :*(

"I finally understood what true love meant...love meant that you care for another person's happiness more than your own, no matter how painful the choices you face might be."

Sorry this was a pretty much play-by-play of the book but it truly speaks for itself! The writing was great...I mean it is Nicholas Sparks after all. But if youre not wanting your heart ripped out STAY AWAY! Im sure some of you might agree or disagree…but I wanna hear it! What did you think?

And btw next time I try to read NS will someone slap me and remind me about this book please? Everyone is like "oh it was bitter sweet"...I tell them "im just plain bitter"! lol

Key of Light (Key Trilogy Book 1) - Nora Roberts

Description~
The life of gallery manager Malory Price is stalled when she is invited to a reception at a mansion near her small Pennsylvania town. Upon her arrival, she discovers that she is one of only three guests-all of whom are feisty young women with life challenges just like her own. Their mysterious hosts explain that centuries earlier, they allowed the souls of the three demigoddesses under their care to be stolen by a sorcerer. Legend says the demigoddesses cannot be freed until three mortal women find the keys to the glass box in which they are housed. Should they agree, Malory, Dana Steele and Zoe McCourt will each receive $25,000 to search for the keys, plus a million dollars if they succeed. They nervously accept, and Malory is the first to tackle her task, with the help of Dana's charming but commitment-phobic brother Flynn, they might just find more than the first key...they could possibly find love.

Ok so Ive been on a Nora Roberts kick for a while now and Im not sure if its b/c Ive had my belly full at the moment or that I just didn’t dig this book as much as the Sign of Seven books…hmmm…idk?!?! Either way this book was neither here nor there with me.

You open up the story meeting three girls who have been invited to this mysterious house. They are told they were chosen to help find three keys to release the souls of some demigoddesses from centuries ago. Each girl will have their own key to find and their choice of a person to help. Luck has it our first girl, Malory Price, meets the man of her dreams AND her helper in one shot!

This story was all about friendship and love conquering all! You learn a lot of the back story which is loaded with Gods and folklore, so that part was interesting but it just fell short to me with keeping my attention. I felt the book very predictable which led to it being easy to put down. That’s a BIG deciding factor on my books btw…could I put it down…and I’d have to say ya I could in this situation. The writing was wonderful and the characters were interesting enough…but sometimes enough isn’t ENOUGH! lol

Will I pick up the second book in this series…yes I will b/c I hate not finishing story lines BUT I really have to hope that the pace gets moving! ;o) Also I have to say that I was warned not to read the NR series one after the other b/c they are so similar…so that person (Nath ;o) was 100% right! Hopefully next time I pick up this series it will be a bit more fresh!

It Had To Be You (Chicago Stars, Book 1) - Susan Elizabeth Phillips

Description~

The Windy City isn't quite ready for Phoebe Somerville—the outrageous, curvaceous New York knockout who has just inherited the Chicago Stars football team. And Phoebe is definitely not ready for the Stars' head coach, former gridiron legend Dan Calebow, a sexist jock taskmaster with a one-track mind. Calebow is everything Phoebe abhors. And the sexy new boss is everything Dan despises—a meddling bimbo who doesn't know a pigskin from a pitcher's mound.

So why is Dan drawn to the shameless sexpot like a heat-seeking missile? And why does the coach's good ol' boy charm leave cosmopolitan Phoebe feeling awkward, tongue-tied...and ready to fight?

Hmmm...alright...hmmm...this was my first book by SEP and Im not sure how to take it. Was the book bad...NO! But was it good...ehh. This book just did not move me much and Im not even sure what couldve been done to make it better.

I loved how every person in the book had a big background. Phoebe had a father who hated her, a cousin that had problems (he was super creepy and liked her in a VERY inappropriate way) and a half sister that resents her! Dan had a crap childhood, Ron the GM of the team was a pus, Molly (Phoebes sister) had mommy/daddy issues...etc. It made the story very well rounded and you felt that you understood a lot of their actions.

I also liked the storyline. I was really craving a sports book and this one sounded right up my alley...girls rich father dies and leaves her a football team...but hes really trying to set her up for failure and she goes to prove him wrong. In the meantime she falls fro ex-quarterback/head coach that has his own issues. BUT it really just...didnt do it for me. I felt Dan was such a typical jock...he chased tail TOO MANY TIMES and I felt he didnt learn his lesson until Phoebe's life was in danger...or right b4 that.

The down fall really is part of Dan (the coach). Him and his ex-wife are still having sex...ok the bigger picture in that is they are both lonely and havent found anyone else. They know the marriage is over and are fine with that they just want sex. Thats cool...BUT Val (his ex) is into some weird stuff...sex wise. Ive heard of fantasies...hey who doesnt have a few of their own but this woman wanted kiddie sex and rape victim sex. FOR ME it made those parts uncomfortable to read...and at some points I was seriously thinking "are you kidding me"? Im not the most conservative girl out there but I think its weird and didnt appeal to me at all.

A big part of the book that I enjoyed was Phoebe and Molly getting to know eachother and be sisters. Molly has always had a grudge against Phoebe and makes her life a living hell when she has to live with her. She lies to Dan and says Phoebe hits her etc and makes up lies! Poo Phoebe isnt sure how to relate to the girl that resents her. BUT the thing that tore them apart actually ends up bringing them together...their father! It was very touching and after being so frustrated with Dan and Phoebes relationship I found myself more interested in the sisters!

Overall this book was decent...I was in between 2.5 - 3 stars...I wasnt really impressed but I think I will continue to try out SEP. Anybody read this series?

I give this book a total of...

Knock Me Off My Feet - Susan Donovan

Description~
Autumn Adams honors her mother's deathbed wish when she takes over her role as famed Homey Helen, domestic diva of Chicago's WBBS-TV station. Coaching her mother's fans on the finer points of homemaking is the last thing Autumn wants; she'd much rather be kicking a soccer ball around a field or running a marathon. Fortunately, she has Marjorie Stoddard, her mom's faithful secretary, to pick up the slack. But Marjorie isn't much help when a twisted fan starts sending death threats in the form of grisly household hints, one of which advises her on the proper way to freeze human remains. Autumn receives protection in the form of handsome Detective Stacey Quinn, who thinks Autumn just might be the perfect woman for him. Winning Autumn's affection isn't as easy as he anticipates, however. Marjorie's bad track record with men-"It's like after seven or eight weeks some green slimy and hairy thing with eleven eyeballs suddenly jumps out of the top of my head and the men start running for the nearest exit"-may keep her from pursuing the one man who won't run away.

I think you all know by now how much I love Susan Donovan! :o) The woman always knows exactly what buttons to push…and when to push them! This book was adorable! Autumn ‘Audie’ Adams and Stacey Quinn were the typical odd couple for me, and while this book was both entertaining and exciting, it fell a tad bit flat in my eyes. Don’t get me wrong…like I said I love SD’s work and I’ve loved every book she’s written! BUT there comes a time when you have to speak the truth. I liked this book, just didn’t love it.

You meet Audie. On her mothers deathbed she promises to follow in her footsteps and become the famous Homey Helen (basically Martha Stewart) which is a HUGE façade for Audie. Audie can’t cook or clean…let alone walk somewhere without falling! But never the less her peers around her help her adjust and keep on the mask. Everything is going well until Audie starts receiving death threats by mail and finally has to involve the police!

You meet Quinn. He is a straight laced detective…prim, proper and def follows the rules. This man is everything Audie isn’t! lol Hes been burned in love (by a man that comes into the story b/c…SHOCK he ALSO dated Audie) and when he sees Audie for the first time thinks that she is his own little God-send! Little did Quinn know when he got assigned to her case that he would learn the true woman that is Autumn Adams. BUT the catcher is that even though this is the woman he never would’ve thought to be with he cant seem to stay away!

Ok one thing I HAVE to say is I absolutely knew who the stalker was from the minute this person came into the story. Ive actually read around and a lot of people feel the same way. I wish that SD would’ve laced the story a little differently to where it wasn’t so clear. That’s one thing I love about romance/mystery books…the surprise element. BUT there wasn’t one for me.

One thing I did like was the characters…Audie and Quinn were totally adorable. It felt like every time Quinn was with her he was mesmerized by her charm and beauty. He truly felt lucky to have her in his life. I loved how she got to meet his family and feel right into place. Audie had the typical rich kid childhood that was loveless and lonesome so when she gets to meets the Quinns it all sorta a shock! As was a relationship that was so intense. And that’s how the boat starts to rock. Audie gets scared off by her intense feelings…but as she learns to let herself love things fall into place.

Another thing I didn’t particularly like about this book was that I felt the two issues were too separated. Issue 1 – stalker Issue 2 – relationship. I felt the two weren’t intertwined seamlessly. It felt very choppy and therefore I was able to put the book down without remorse. So for me the book just had flowing problems that should’ve been addressed.

I did however like the fact that Audie was doing something that was totally foreign to her. I liked knowing she lived like a slob, always ate out, and hated wearing prissy clothes! She didn’t even write the columns for Homey! BUT even though I liked this aspect I felt they didn’t let you dive into it with her experiences. The furthest you go into her messiness/lack of home knowledge is knowing she has a messy house…SO I felt that SD should’ve also elaborated on this.

Ok so overall I felt this book was…hot…ya pretty hot, ive had better from SD…cute…OH YA adorable!...outta this world…not so much. You wanna read that’s not to in depth and EXTREMLY light and fluffy, then go for this but for me it was TOO light! :o)

Chipotle’s sponsor is offering a million dollar reward to anyone who can provide information leading to the capture of the killers. Lula recruits bounty hunter Stephanie Plum to help her find the killers and collect the moolah. Stephanie Plum’s Grandma Mazur. Enough said. Stephanie Plum is working overtime tracking felons for the bonds office at night and snooping for security expert Carlos Manoso, A.K.A. Ranger, during the day. Can Stephanie hunt down two killers, a traitor, five skips, keep her grandmother out of the sauce, solve Ranger’s problems and not jump his bones? Habanero hot. So good you’ll want seconds.

Alright...can the sexually frustrated readers PLEASE show me your hands...come on...I know you're out there. OMG SERIOUSLY I'm not a perv...ok not THAT BIG of one at least but Stephanie needs to get some. I know these novels aren't totally based on romance BUT give the girl some slack even our fellow bounty hunter needs a little heat sometimes.

First off I gotta say that if you know me pretty well you know that I'm a pretty loyal/faithful gal. I can't help it I have a soft heart and when I start something and attach to it I can't just let go. Thats how I look at the Stephanie Plum novels. When I first started reading a friend of mine got me hooked on Stephanie's hijinx! I loved her! She always makes you LOL! I don't really expect too much new within the series...I expect a lot of the same type of comedy and humor. But I can say that it has gone down the hill somewhat. I KNOW everyone is like DUH MONROE WE KNOW THIS...but I have to say that even though we are all too familiar with Step, Joe, Ranger, Lula...etc they still make us laugh and personally I will continue to read till the end. :o)

That being said I must get to the nitty gritty and complain a bit.

Ok first off...wth the last book Steph and Joe were fine. Better than fine they were GREAT! And now I guess they had a fight over peanut butter *eye roll and separated. I guess JE wanted to pull back a little on the Steph/Joe relationship to shake things up. I know Steph will never choose and it's done on purpose b/c they dont want to mix in too much romance but still Im starting to get a bit restless here. I think it would be interesting for her to attempt a relationship with Ranger! Hmmm...lol

One thing I like about the book was that Lula got a ton of attention! She witnessed a decapitation and the murderers are after her! lol She gets chased around town by two bozos: one a butcher who laughs like a hyena and carrys a big butcher knife and the other man couldn't hit the blind side of a barn! lol So needless to say...dangerous- yes BUT not all to bright! Lula goes to stay with Stephanie and that in itself is a hoot! She snores up a storm and forces Steph to go stay with Ranger...which brings me to the HELLO GO HAVE SEX WITH HIM part of my review. I love Ranger (yes i love Morelli more) but I really don't think I would be able to keep my hands off of this man. The best thing about him...he totally takes cares of Steph. Hes given her TONS of cars, places to live and jobs out the ying yang! Ugh...COME ON GIRL!

Ok another hang up about this book was NORMALLY theres quite a bit of an ending...Steph is normally trapped somewhere and Ranger or Morelli has to save the day etc. But NO Morelli was like so-n-so caught the killer...wth?!? REALLY thats not too exciting. Ugh...and like I said about the no sex...do you KNOW how many times I was about yelling at the book. She couldve had sex with Ranger or Morelli numerous times but noooooo. Ugh I think by the end of the book I wouldv'e settled for G-ma Mazur sex! LMAO!

Instead of Snib Bit's I thought it might be fun to do a few quotes from our fav Plum characters!

"Probably I can find her breast without it, but it's good to know there's a navigational system on board if I need it." --Morelli

"Last time you called me late at night you were naked and chained to your shower curtain rod. I hope this isn't going to be disappointing." -- Ranger

...and one of my fav's

Mary Lou- "So let me get this straight. Last night you were with the two sexiest men in the entire world, and you didn't score with either one of them."
Stephanie- "There are other things in this life besides scoring with men."
Mary Lou- "Like what?"
Stephanie- "I could score with myself."
Mary Lou- "You could go blind doing that."
Stephanie- "No! I mean I could feel good about myself. You know, like when you do a job and it turns out excellent. Or when you set a moral standard for yourself and stick to it."
Mary Lou gave me the open-mouth, wrinkled-nose, this-is-a-load-of-bullshit look. "What?"
Stephanie- "Well, okay, so I've never had any of those things happen, but they could."
Mary Lou- "And pigs could fly. But personally I'd rather have an orgasm."

Ok so this book wasn't the best BUT it did make me laugh and the Plum books are always comfort books for me...:o)

I give this book a total of...

Chosen (House of Night, Book 3) - P.C. and Kristin Cast

Description~

Dark forces are at work at the House of Night and Zoey Redbird's adventures at the school take a mysterious turn. Her best friend, Stevie Rae, is undead and struggling to maintain a grip on her humanity. Zoey finds herself in the very unexpected and rare situation of having three boyfriends. Mix a little bloodlust into the equation and the situation has the potential to spell social disaster. Just when it seems things couldn't get any tougher, vampyres start turning up dead. Really dead. It looks like the People of Faith are tired of living side-by-side with vampyres. But, as Zoey and her friends so often find out, how things appear rarely affects the truth...

Like I've said before, I love reading all sorts of books and even though Romance is my favorite category I love a good Paranormal thrown into the mix. when I came upon this House if Night series I'll say that I was interested but wary by the reading level it was at. These books are at the Young Adult reading level, but I can honestly say if I had kids they would NOT be reading this series. There is talk of drugs, sex and alcohol between these pages and frankly I don't think a kid under the age of 18 needs to read that sort of stuff.

Apart from that I enjoyed this book! This is the third book in the series and the best yet I feel this story is really evolving into a great series. We continue the journey of Zoey Redbird and her faithful friends through their trials and tribulations of becoming adult vampyres. Zoey has many problems in this book. Between juggling three boyfriends, a best friend that's part of the undead dead group running amuck, and a really pissed off High Priestess, it’s just more than she can handle. From page 1 to 307 I was spellbound. Zoey's determination to please her Goddess Nyx is truly marvelous. She is definitely tested in this book and we learn that not everyone is perfect even a "Chosen" one. There were tons of action, deceit and even a morsel of lust in this short novel. I totally recommend it to anyone that loves a bit of the paranormal in their reading to pick this one up.

I give this book a total of...
