Kate's Crew - Jayne Rylon

Blurb~
Nothing’s sexier than a man, or five, with power tools.

Sultry summer heat has nothing on the five-man crew renovating the house next door. No one could blame Kate for leaning out the window for a better view of the manscape. The nasty fall that follows isn’t part of her fantasy—but the man who saves her from splattering the sidewalk is definitely the star.

When Mike personally attends to her injuries, she realizes her white knight in a hard hat has a tender side, giving her no choice but to surrender to the lust that’s been arcing between them since day one. In the aftermath of the best sex of her life, she whispers her most secret desire: to be ravaged by his crew.

She never expected Mike would dare her to take what she wants—or that the freedom to make her most decadent desires come true could be the foundation for something lasting…

Ok this one will be a quicky...kinda like this book! lol It really took me one hour to read it! lol

So Kate friends 5 guys remodeling a house next door to her. One guy in particular has taking a liking to her and when she falls out of her window trying to check out the man meat next door he tends to her wounds himself! ;o) She quickly finds herself in the middle of a boys gone wild show leaving her yearning for way more than what she expected to get!

Alright...I commend ANYONE who a) Can write and get published & b) Can read books that don't pull at your heart strings b/c I cant do either! lol This book (to me) was too unconnected and smutty for my taste...ok youre saying "well duh Monroe its Erotica...come on 5 dudes and one chick...what did you think was gonna happen"? BUT let me remind you that just b/c its wild and crazy doesnt meant that the author cant lure us in with some great romance. Look at what Maya Banks did with Colters Woman...she still managed to show a great bond between all the lovers...it was HOT SEXY and STILL LOVING!

In this book you get thrown into a mixture of basically lust and not so much love. Some may not mind that HOWEVER I DO! I need to feel connected with SOMEONE!!! Mike and Kate meet and kinda fall for each other but you never really felt a connection other than lust. Then she get with his crew and the crew gets with each other (which btw was my first m/m I had ever read lol). Idk it was a bit too much for me and I like to think Im opened minded in my books!

Oh and one more thing...in sex scenes I hate when authors are too wordy. Sometimes saying less is more...like using the word labia cracks me up! lol dumb it down...it works better for me! ;o)

Ok so ill break it down for you like this...if you are looking for something hot and lustful BUT without any connection to romance this one would be for you...otherwise skip over this one.

Oh PS I do love the cover though! lol

I give this book a total of...

Shakespeare's Landlord (Lily Bard Mysteries, Book 1) - Charlaine Harris

Description~
Lily Bard is a loner. Other than the day-to-day workings of her cleaning and errand-running service, she pays little attention to the town around her. But when her landlord is murdered, Lily is singled out as the prime suspect, and proving her innocence will depend on finding the real killer in quiet, secretive Shakespeare.

I think its obvious why I wouldve picked this book up...its none other than Charlaine Harris...our dear maker of Miss Sookie Stackhouse!! I thought that alone would make her other work sit right with me...unfortunately I was wrong :o/

You open the book meeting Lily Bard. She is a house maid and errand runner for a few different people in her neighborhood. You spend a HUGE amount of the beginning of the book just basically going throughout her day! I found myself skimming pages in my ebook and wanting to throw it into my DNF pile!

At this point the only thing interesting thats happened was she witnessed someone getting rid of a body and discreetly calls the police. THEN we go back to her repetitive life as a maid. Now I do understand why Harris did this. Lily had a horrible thing happen to her in her past (tons of rape in one night by many men and almost dieing...followed by her shooting and killing someone) so I think Harris was trying to show us she was skimming by in life blending into the back ground...she was numb to the world. I GET THIS...believe me but does it have to get to the point where her job is 80-90% of the book??? UGH! That killed me...

Well in the mean while someone has found out about her past and is taunting her by leaving scary objects where she is working. This leads her into believing that the killer and her stalker are one in the same. She meets a cop thats sorta older than her but we all know she digs and he starts to join her in the find of the killer. Also we meet her karate instructor thats totally head over heels for her. At this point in the book I was liking it but then yet again it went back to the same junk...her job.

So ya blah blah they end up finding the killer and a love triangle is sorta formed. The end...

Will i try the 2nd one...its a SUPER stretch for me to say maybe so...idk. should you read this...you know Ive read good reviews on this book but when you cant even remember who the killer was and the names of some of the characters you know thats not a good sign so I would think youd be ok with skipping this one! :o)

Sorry guys!

Faking It - Jennifer Crusie

Description~

Mural artist Tilda Goodnight is struggling to pay off the mortgage on the family business and keep the Goodnight secrets safely hidden. Juggling her life gets even more complicated when she hides in Clea Lewis's closet and collides with sexy Davy Dempsey. Tilda is in Clea's bedroom to steal back a forged painting; Davy's there to steal Clea's account codes and retrieve the $3 million the larcenous blonde stole from him. Somehow, Tilda finds herself exchanging a mind-blowing kiss with her fellow burglar, and when Davy follows her home and rents a room from her mother, she's forced to deal with the charming con man. Everyone in Tilda's world is pretending to be someone else, including her daydreaming mother, her split-personality sister, and her cross-dressing ex-brother-in-law. All of them, including Tilda and Davy, are Faking It. What will happen when all the secrets are out and everyone knows the truth about everyone else? Will Davy recover his 3 million? Will Tilda recover all the forged paintings and find her true artistic calling? Will Tilda's mother run off to Aruba with a hit man named Ford? And exactly what is the difference between a man labeled a "doughnut" and one who deserves the title "muffin"?

Ok, I'm gonna try to do this as short and painlessly as possible. Let me start out buy saying I LOVE JENNIFER CRUSIE! I really do! I think her books are always entertaining, funny and very sexy! HOWEVER I do believe JC missed the mark on this one.

You start the book out by meeting an artist from childhood Tilda Goodnight. Shes stuck unhappily painting murals because of a family secret hidden in her basement. When some of her secret starts to be reveled she is forced to fall into the "family business" and steal a painting. While doing so she runs into ex-con Davy Dempsey (we met him in Welcome to Temptation) and sparks start to fly while hiding in a closet. They soon find that they need each other to get what they want...Davy his stolen money back and Tilda her paintings. While doing so they slowly start to fall in love. But will their secret from each others past lives be too much to bare?

Me and Wena were talking about this book the other day and we were trying to figure out what went wrong with the story. I think she put it best when she said "There wasn't anything bad about it, but there really wasn't anything good either". So let me get this out...Davy pissed me off in many situations...lets just at one point he told Tilda another woman was great at sex and she sucked and it's not like they were fighting at the time...they were fine! (It was in WAY harsher words that i wouldn't like to type) I had a real love/hate relationship with him. I felt his character didn't have much depth. His only "hang up" was he used to be a con man and it didn't really posses a problem. You know normally each character has their "issues" none of them really did and maybe that was a problem. They didn't have to really overcome anything. This was a very hollow book for me. As for Tilda, I kinda liked her in a way but there again her issues weren't big or horrible. Her relationship with Davy came kinda easy...too easy so there wasn't much struggle which normally makes books funny.

I don't think it would be a very good review without mentioning Tilda's family so I'll do it in a hurry. Her mother drank consistently which is ok by me but if your going to mention it all the time why not have her doing zany drunken things...idk. Her little side story with a hired hit man, Ford probably would've made a more compelling story here. Tilda's niece's story has kinda cute. You watched her go through a few guys dating and all the normal teenage stuff. Now her sister...WIERD!!! She has split personalities and it was just to odd for me to grasp. One of her personalities was dating a guy named Simon and one was a single mom. YA I KNOW?!?!?

So I'd really like to forget this book. I'm not even gonna put a snib bit into this review b/c I don't think its worth it. I hope this wasn't disrespectful to the author b/c I truly love her work. I just think she missed it on this one. I MADE myself finish this book when MANY told me not to. I hate to admit this but I wish I would've listened to them and moved on. It was pretty painful. Poor Baby! lol

I'm onto Lisa Kleypas's Sugar Daddy. I'm really excited because I've never read her before! Wish me luck!
